MONTHLY EVENTS & BOONS.
001 | The Lambton Worms | April 2014
event reference, boon reference
John will be given access to the Restricted Section of the Seelie library to learn the Healing Spells there. His aptitude for this line of magic will be stronger than any other. It will be difficult at first, however! Learning how to knit flesh, solder bone, and eventually drawing out poison directly from wounds. Ultimately, we'll leave a sensible time-frame based on your character's yen to learn this up to you.
He will also receive a photograph of his sister.
002 | The Attack of Wild Edric | May 2014
event reference, boon reference
John will be elevated and invited to join the golden-cloaked Golden Cadre by High-King Ridire. His weapon of choice, the hammer, shall be enchanted such that each blow it strikes on his foes shall heal the hurts of his brothers-in-arms (whoever fights closest alongside him), and he shall be given command of three-dozen soldiers, men and women of races native to Glaschu.
003 | The Cruel Ainsels | June 2014
event reference, boon reference
On the morning of the 23rd will be a note on John's bedside table from High-Queen Solais, next to a hand-sized photograph of her in a gilded frame:
Good morning, John! What a beautiful day it is.
I hope you will watch the royal audience through your locket today! I would very much like to speak with you. Your boon request was charming, and I should like to see what I may do for you in a more practical manner. I understand that you are at the Station; I hope the fairies are treating you well! They can be such little bothers at times and quite consider the Station their own clever little accident.
My castle does not feel as safe without your presence, yet I understand well your reasons for going away. Be safe and we shall talk soon.
Your Bright Lady
004 | The Harvest of the Scrying Stars | July 2014
event reference, boon reference
My Dearest John,
With this message you shall find a plain ring of red iron: once worn and loved by a long line of dwarf lords. Wear it, and the great majority of earth and stone shall obey your very will. But even stone, here, has a will all its own, and in some rare cases you shall no doubt come across some which will defy even your considerable mental fortitude.
With Affection, The Bright Lady
005 | The Falling of the Lawkamercyme | August 2014
event reference, boon reference
John is presented all-expense-paid writs of passage for four on a vacationer's yacht waiting at the Shipyard Ring. The message seams to imply that this will involve lots of calm coastal sailing and drinking.
006 | Finding the Three Feathers | September 2014
event reference, boon reference
He will instead receive a heavy metal seal of the crown, allowing him to requisition forces or other aid in Seelie-allied or controlled areas, and to teleport within Glaschu.
Inside will be a brief note from Solais, asking if he would be willing to work (together with other soldiers) toward training raw shardbearers into a cohesive and competent force.
007 | The Lost Moon | October 2014
event reference, boon reference
The High-King happily accepts [the invitation to come to a training session], under the condition the team goes fishing with him sometime in spring.
008 | The Uprising Dead | November 2014
event reference, boon reference
John will be gifted an armoured and trained female saber-fanged cave lion! Actually more closely related to weasels and stoats, it's as big as a bear, quick as a cat, and ferociously intelligent.
009 | The White Hart Hunt | December 2014
event reference, boon reference
John will be given a special selection of books on these topics (Shardbearer battles of note, the Jabberwock, the sundered courts)! He will also be afforded a handsome juniper and mistletoe crown and a Yule-red cloak.
"THE YEARS OF FALLING FIRE IN THE AGE OF UNCERTAIN HEAVENS
The history details the extent of the War for the Shards during the past 500 years (current year before the switch is 5700 in the Age of Uncertain Heavens), and seems to be written by a non-aligned native historian. If the past 500 years is anything to go by, victory certainly seems to be majorly in Unseelie hands.
Within the past few hundred years, Seelie expanded territory to gain most of the drabwurld's major cities in the territory of Glaschu, but this advancement came at the cost of most of their prior shardbearers. Retaliation came in the form of unleashing magical biological warfare against the Unseelie, but this decimated majorly native populations, and resulted in curious pockets of virulence in vampiric populations (most of which, as a result, aligned themselves with the Unseelie) and a strong backlash from the native magic users. The largest native force of magic users, a matriarchal tribe of elves called the Aellyn, aligned themselves with Caer Scima as a result, and presently send young men to serve as combat sorcerers.
The most powerful readily-available magic all has to do with small sacrifices of bone, blood, flesh, and life, and many Unseelie shardbearers noted in the history were predominantly magic-users who gained skill and power through service to their court.
Within the last century occurred the unleashing of the Jabberwock, a beast of the Unseelie court, to fell the last of Caer Glaem's dragons. Some native legends about its use are included. Its destruction of many parts of the drabwurld led to the Red Famine, a decade-long famine so named because men would shed blood for as much as a handful of grain. Following the Battle of Falling Fire during that time of famine (he would note that Reynard and Isengrim are among the recorded deaths), enough shardbearers had died on both sides that the war fell into an 80-year-lull, leading to the present time of relative peace.
The author went on to speculate that the war would resume intensity as soon as there were enough shardbearers to do so."
010 | The Heavens Speak of Futures | January 2015

For his sacrifice, another mark will appear on Mako's hand, a second of three, meaning he's that much closer to regaining his bending!

012 | The Wings of Winter & The Song of the Harp | March & April 2015
